Interview of Chairman of Delta State Integrated Development Project, DIDP published on Vanguard Chairman of Delta State Integrated Development Project, DIDP, a Public-Private Partnership Development programme, in the office of the Governor of Delta State, Mr. Godwin Gary Bire Akpobire, is one of the silent thinkers and professionals saddled with the responsibility of developing and creating investment platforms for entrepreneurs to invest in the state. In the past four years, he has been gathering investment data on energy, housing, agriculture, transport, education and several industrial developments in the state. He has also developed master plans for 1,509 communities in the state, Akpobire spoke to Vanguard on the behind-the-scene plans to transform Delta State.

WHAT IS SMEDA?

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDA) is a parastatal body established under the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency Bill 2014. Governor Uduaghan signed this Agency into law about three weeks ago. The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency could support and facilitate the development of entrepreneurship and SMEs in Delta State. Below are some objectives and funtions as obtains in other developing economies.

UDUAGHAN ASSENTS TO DELTA SMEDA BILL

His Excellency the Governor of Delta State Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, assenting to the Bill for the establishment of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency.

Assisting His Excellency were the Hon. Commissioner for Justice Mr Charles Ajuyah, Clerk of the House Barrister Mrs Lyna Ocholor and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya.
